FAQ

How does the website work?

Simply type in your postcode, then select type (oil, gas,LPG, chimney sweep) then request Service Type (Boiler service or repair), then your appliance (Gas/Oil boiler or Gas/Oil AGA-Rayburn). Engineer availability and best price will then be listed. You can choose to accept or decline. If you accept, simply follow the online instructions and input the remaining details, address/tel no. and our engineer will contact you.

How long does a service take?

For a Gas boiler approx ½ hour to an hour. For an Oil boiler approx 45mins to 1 ½ hours For an AGA/Rayburn up to 2 hours. The above timings are only an indication. Some boilers that have been neglected can take a while to service and clean. Our engineers have a duty of care and will perform the service to the highest standards, so if it takes longer please be patient with them, your safety is paramount.

Will you remind me next year?

Of course. 1 month before your service is due we will email you to advise. Just login with your login name and password and check the local price and confirm….it may be cheaper!!!!! Our engineers will contact you and do the rest!

Will it cost any more?

No, the price that is quoted is the price you pay, directly to the engineer after the service. Only if you ask for further work or the engineer highlights a problem that is discussed with you will there be further charges.

How often should I have a service?

Gas Boilers- Yearly
Oil Boilers- Yearly
Gas AGAs/Rayburns - Yearly
Oil-fired AGA /Rayburn- Six Monthly

My boiler is broken, can you service it?

Because our Engineers need to check the operation of the boiler particularly when it has fired up, the boiler does need to be operating. Therefore you will require a repair first. Our engineers will be happy to discuss this with you.

Can I service my own appliance?

No, not unless you are qualified to do so.

My boiler is fine and hasn’t been serviced in years, why should I start now?

Quite simply, it will be likely costing you more to run giving poor efficiency, thereby costing you more. You are compromising safety as leaks may be present that would have been discovered on an annual service. Preventing problems is cheaper than fixing them. How much is 'piece of mind' worth?

Are the engineers qualified?

Yes. Our engineers are registered with either Gas Safe or OFTEC or both and operate to our strict Code of Conduct. Our chimney sweeps are registered with either The National Associaton of Chimney Sweeps (NACS) or HETAS.

Are oil boilers safe?

If your boiler and flue system are installed to comply with current regulatory and manufacturers’ requirements and the installation is regularly serviced and maintained, you can expect many years of safe operation. As an additional safeguard, a remote sensing fire valve must be fitted in the oil supply line immediately outside the property. This will automatically cut off the fuel supply into your house and to your boiler should a problem occur.

My engineers say I require a fire Valve, What is it?

A fire valve is an important safety feature of an oil installation to cut off the supply of oil before it enters the building remotely from the appliance in the event of an overheat/fire situation.

Are oil boilers noisy?

Advances in design and appearance of oil boilers over the last twenty years have been enormous and many of the existing boilers available have been developed for installation into kitchens. There may be some minor operational noise, on start-up. Balance flue boilers tend to be quieter than conventional flue boilers. As with any boiler, audible noise levels will vary according to its location within your house and background noise.
